Underground Railroad?

Was the underground railroad before AND during the Civil War or was it just before and then it stopped during the Civil War?

Reply:Whenever slavery was still existant in the US.
Reply:The heyday of the Underground Railroad was between 1810 and 1850. The Civil War was later, 1861-1865. .
Reply:Mainly before the Civil War. During the Civil War, the people in the areas of the Confederates cared more about defeating the Union in the war than for their slaves. This resulted in most slaves having easier escapes but still required the use for the codes of the Underground Railroad.
