Why was the industrial revolution a good thing?

and why was it a bad thing.
Why was the industrial revolution a good thing?
look where we were before it, and where we would be if it never happened

If it never had happened, you would not be typing a question on the internet tonight

You would be milking a cow or sewing a shirt by candlelight
Why was the industrial revolution a good thing?
The industrial revolution enabled mass production and the freedom to move away from the congested, overpopulated cities. Industry was released to expand into the countryside and bring jobs and new wealth to people who were digging a living from the ground. The down side is pollution and urban sprawl. Money became the most desired attribute to work. Without the Industrial revolution, we'd never have been born. The down side is, it will probably kill us all.
Reply:Good; creation of job availability, gave the average man who was uneducated a chance to make a paycheck, made a job possible to obtain.

Bad; the creation of "sweat shops" where men, women, and children worked in horrid conditions, long hours, no breaks, had no rights as employees, and were often hurt or killed on the job.
