Romantic era??

what can you tell me about the Romantic era? i'm doing a research paper about it adn the site doesnt really give me much information.

Romantic era??
Roman is your first clue - romanticism was in part a celebration of the classical arts, as part of Europe's long, slow climb out of the medieval fragmentation and decline (aka "the Dark Ages").





It was also a time of increasing nationalism, when in particular the Germanic peoples, long fragmented into hundreds of mostly tiny statelets, and many subject to non-German rulers, celebrated their own culture as a means of generating the potential to unite politically.





Romanticism was more about expression than enlightenment idealism, more about national identity than humanity, and possibly more about ordinary people than about the most educated.
