The Treaty of Versailles ended the war, and President Woodrow Wilson created the 14 points which blamed Germany for the start and the damages of it even though it was Austria who started it. The US influenced others to treat certain countries a certain way. The League of Nations also was created, though the United States never joined. We gave the idea of keeping the peace!

Chelsea, your point of view is just a little to US centred! The US did not dictate the entirety of the Treaty, and his 14 points werte given in a speech and formed only a minor role in the eventual treaty. This was mainly because of US isolationism and a distinct European attitude that the US should not dictate European affairs.

------------

The Leagu of Nations was never going to be effective as long as it essentially imposed a restriction on sovereignty for Germany and it's former allies. Wilson might have wanted to place arms restrictions on Europe and then retreat across the Atlantic, but this was naive and dangerous politics: and history supports this view. The US was certainly not the originator of the idea of keeping the peace.
