What were Rationing Books during world war two??
Rationing books were booklets of coupons good for predetermined amounts of staples such as Flour, Sugar, Tinned Foods, and Cooking oil.

The Booklets in the UK and the US were of course different, considering the UK's geographic proximity to the European theatre of war which made the import of staples much more difficult.

This website I found useful. It's a thorough covering of Ration Books in the UK during WWII:

Ration books in England were issued by the Ministry of Food

A ration book was issued for a year, each year being divided into 13 four week periods.

There were pages of coupons for sugar, bacon, cheese, fats, eggs, meat and tea which had to be cut out or cancelled by the retailer.
