If you believe that history is not progress does that mean you think humanity is negative?

If you believe that history is not progress does that mean you think humanity is negative?
Well, yes.

To deny that History is the social, political, technological, and economic progress of humanity through the ages would be to say that Humanity is negative in the regards to the aspect that it's not progressing, ergo the famous quote that, "those who don't know history are doomed to repeat it".

Peace!
Reply:i don't understand the question
Reply:How can History not be progress.

History is stuff that happened in the past. Stuff that built us up to what we are today.

If our History was not progress at all but a bad thing then I guess if you were looking at out History in that way then it would be negative.

Interesting thing to think about by the way
Reply:There has been progress in history- such as technological and medical progress. However, human nature has never progressed; there has been murder, rape, robbery, unjust war, etc... all through history. It's going on now, and it happened in every age before. So I don't think we can say that humanity is progressing, but that doesn't mean it's digressing either.
Reply:You need history to progress forward. Many times people underestimate history but look how people do the same mistakes over and over again. Not learning from history will set up back.
Reply:Progressive - not progress.

History is just the recording of events and the interpretation of those events. Sometimes events more humanity forward - like the Pax Romana, other times backwards, the Holocaust.
