They said the most important time for them as a band was the time they spent in Berlin... they went there not really knowing what they were doing or what they wanted to do and left 2 years later with their act together and a goal in mind

Boldness because fortune favours it!
Reply:Playing together in long gigs in Hamburg, despite troubles retaining a true standing drummer until Ringo joined, was the catylyst to the Beatles belief in themselves that they could be a success musically. Help from mentors such as Brian Epstein and the support from George Martin did much to help them make history.

I recall someone saying something about it being similar to the Crickets, which was the name of Buddy Holly's band. I think it was in the Anthology DVD, but I don't remember who said it.





I've always thought the Flaming pie story was funny, though. He had a good sense of humor, some of the time.
