1. The usual answer is slavery but anyone who really knows US history knows that there are other reasons also, such as states rights v. federal power and others.


2. Again, the usual answer was to stop the Communist North Vietnamese from conquering and controlling the (somewhat) Democratic South Vietnamese. However, there are other reasons, such as the Cold War.


3. I'm not sure about this one but I'll just say Lincoln.

Lupin is right about question number 1. The main cause of the Civil War is not slavery, but state's rights. I'll also agree with his second answer. As for the third question, it Andrew Jackson was the first president to have an attempted assassination in 1835. (per wikipedia)





At the Capitol Building, a house painter named Richard Lawrence aimed two flintlock pistols at the President, but both misfired, one of them while Lawrence stood within 13 feet (4 m) of Jackson and the other at point-blank range.[1] Lawrence was apprehended after Jackson beat him with a cane. Lawrence was found not guilty by reason of insanity and confined to a mental institution until his death in 1861.
