Is religon the cause of most wars? (besides wealth & power)?

Most wars are caused because of:


1. Land 2. Wealth or the lack of wealth (power comes with wealth) 3. Religion


I think it is the differences between religions that cause religious based war. It's all about the details about who believes what and why.

I do think that religion has been part of the cause of almost all major conflicts in history - sometimes a large part, sometimes not. But at the base, religion itself is not the cause - it is the inability of humans to tolerate others and their differing beliefs. Whether a person is Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, or Muslim - it doesn't matter what religion they practice so long as they 1) don't push that religion onto others and 2) tolerate others practicing their beliefs - no matter how different they may be.

more people have died in wars for religion then any other cause of war.
Reply:it is partly involved. War often arises from a difference in opinions or views. that involves different religions. (along with different cultures, national ideals, etc)

All wars are about money. Natural resources, tax revenue, industry and the other spoils of war are all money. Religion is just a convenient way to convince a populace to fight for the profit of the ruling elite of their country.

They fight in the name of their God or Allah or whatever they want to call him. But all they do is kill. I'm sure God is real happy with his stupid creation (Man), who have done nothing but fight wars and commit acts of cruelty throughout the very sad and pathetic history of human existence.


Yes, wealth, power and land possession is always involved, but religion is at the root of a lot of wars and turmoil around the world. Look at Israel. The supposed birthplace of Jesus is one of the most continuously messed up parts of the world, not to mention the entire Middle East. In the name of Allah, lets kill everyone. Stupid humans.
